As in 2018, the OECD and WHO will co-convene a meeting of the National Public Health Agencies, participating in the STOP project, at the OECD Conference Centre in Paris on 7-9 October 2019. The STOP project is a H2020-funded initiative aiming to generate scientifically sound, novel and policy-relevant evidence on the factors that have contributed to the spread of childhood obesity in European countries and on the effects of alternative technological and organisational solutions and policy options available to address the problem. Delegates to the OECD EGEPH meeting are invited to join this meeting and to participate in the work of STOP. The 2019 meeting of the STOP project is expected to be centred around the following three overarching themes:
- The benchmarking of national and European policies on food and nutrition, through the implementation of the Food-EPI approach by national public health agencies throughout Europe, following an established international model (INFORMAS);
- The assessment of the role and commitments of key food and non-alcoholic beverage industry players in Europe, through a survey based on the BIA-Obesity tool;
- The development of a template and approach for producing Policy Briefs and Toolkits aimed at supporting the design of effective policies to address childhood obesity.
